The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Thursday that they had taken control of three key locations across Sudan, including areas in White Nile, North Darfur, and the Kordofan Mountains, following violent clashes with General al-Burhan’s army (SAF) and allied jihadist militias.
In a statement, the RSF confirmed its capture of Umm Kadada in North Darfur, which houses the headquarters of the 24th Brigade of the 6th Division of the SAF.
Sources told Darfur24 that the RSF launched a two-pronged attack on the city, engaging in heavy fighting with the Shogara Forces, a militia allied with the SAF.
Videos posted by RSF fighters on social media showed them controlling several key sites in Umm Kadada, including the local government headquarters, the main hospital, and the army command.
However, fighters from Umm Kadada later claimed to have repelled the RSF and regained control of the areas they had occupied.
Clashes in Umm Kadada were reported to be ongoing as of Thursday, with Shogara forces reportedly counterattacking the RSF, resulting in casualties on both sides.
Additionally, the RSF claimed to have secured the Al-Halba area, located 50 kilometers west of Ad Duwaym in White Nile State, after the SAF had previously seized it. Reports indicated that dozens of soldiers from both sides were killed in the fighting.
In South Kordofan, the RSF successfully repelled a SAF assault on the Umm Adara area following intense combat. RSF videos showed the destruction of several SAF vehicles and the capture of military equipment, including drones.
The ongoing battles highlight the continued instability in Sudan, where the conflict between the RSF and SAF has led to significant territorial changes and rising casualties.
