RSF says 65 soldiers, officers from Sudan army have joined group

Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on Tuesday the defection of 65 soldiers from the Sudanese army, including three officers, who have joined their ranks, according to a statement they made on X (formerly Twitter) social media platform.

RSF mentioned that this move came “In response to the call of Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Commander, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, 65 honorable members of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), including three officers, have declared their decision to join the RSF in Omdurman today.”

In the statement, they said: “By joining the RSF today at the very time when Army Day celebrations are ongoing, these courageous soldiers have taught an important lesson to the corrupt SAF leadership, which has surrendered Sudan’s military to the former regime.”

They emphasized that the Sudanese armed forces, under its current leadership, has transformed into an institution devoid of any professionalism or national character that solely obeys the orders of its extremist patrons.
