President Salva Kiir of South Sudan has called on citizens to prioritize development and economic growth. He made this appeal during the inauguration of the new Bank of South Sudan (BoSS) headquarters in Juba on Monday.
“I encourage the staff of the Bank of South Sudan to cooperate with the staff of our institution to advance the positives of the government,” Kiir stated. He also urged other government institutions and citizens to concentrate on development and enhancing economic growth.
President Kiir emphasized that a robust banking sector is crucial for fostering economic growth and maintaining financial stability in the nation. He also recognized the Central Bank’s vital role in regulating the banking industry.
Dr. James Alic Garang, the governor of the Central Bank, expressed gratitude to the government for its ongoing support in building a credible financial institution. He expressed optimism that the new headquarters would boost operational efficiency and improve public access to essential banking services.
The new bank headquarters, constructed by China’s Shandong High Speed, aims to enhance infrastructure services. The Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, Ma Qiang, highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between South Sudan and China.
China, South Sudan’s largest trading partner, is actively involved in various sectors in the country, including engineering, construction, telecommunications, healthcare, hospitality, and retail.
