Sudan dominates South Sudan in World Cup qualifier

Sudan clinched a commanding 3-0 victory over neighboring South Sudan in their 2026 football World Cup qualifying match held at Juba Stadium on Tuesday.

The Falcons of Jediane, led by Walieldin Khidir’s stoppage-time goal assisted by Abdelrazig Yagoub Omer Taha, broke the deadlock after a quiet opening 15 minutes. Sudan extended their lead in the 51st minute with a goal from Yasir Mozamil Mohamed, followed by Mohamed Abdel Raman sealing the win with another goal in the 78th minute.

The victory propels Sudan to the top of Group B standings, while South Sudan now sits in fifth place.

Mohamed Abdel Raman, who plays for Sudan’s Al-Hilal Omdurman football club, scored his 20th goal during the match.

South Sudan’s next match is scheduled against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in March 2025, whereas Sudan will face Senegal in their upcoming qualification game.
