The head of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is on a PR tour while Sudan war rages, arrived in Turkey on Wednesday to meet President Erdogan and conduct talks.
Al-Burhan was welcomed by former vice president Fuat Oktay, former FM Mevlut Cavusoglu, former finance minister Lutfu Elvan and former Turkish ambassador to Khartoum Irfan Neziroglu.
Al-Burhan was greeted without a formal ceremony upon his arrival in Turkey as only heads of state receive such a welcome.
Burhan’s supporters on social media have extensively shared footage of his 2021 trip as Wednesday’s footage, causing confusion among many users.
President Erdogan received al-Burhan later on in the presidential complex in Ankara.
No more information was provided about the closed-door meeting,
This marks the fifth foreign visit for al-Burhan since the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) erupted in April.
His previous visits included stops in Egypt, South Sudan, Qatar, and Eritrea.
