UAE won’t recognise Burhan govt’s move to cut ties

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has rejected General Abdel Fattah al Burhan-led government’s decision to sever diplomatic ties, the UAE’s foreign ministry confirmed on Wednesday.

It followed the statement from Burhan’s government, which declared on Sunday that it would cut ties with the Gulf nation.

The move stems from accusations that the UAE provided advanced weapons to rival group, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

UAE has repeatedly denied the allegations.

The port city, a strategic location on the Red Sea, has been a focal point of the ongoing civil war in Sudan.

The diplomatic clash marks a significant escalation in Sudan’s two-year-old conflict, which has already claimed thousands of lives and displaced many others.

The situation in Sudan continues to evolve, with tensions high as the conflict intensifies, drawing in regional and international actors.

The UAE’s rejection of Sudan’s decision adds another layer of complexity to the already fragile political landscape in the region.
