Sudan’s TASIS-led Transitional Peace Government has taken another step towards strengthening its judicial institutions, with senior legal official Mustafa Koko Tiya Abu Qurs taking the formal oath of office as an assistant attorney general.
The ceremony took place on Monday, October 12, before Presidential Council Chairman Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, and Attorney General Sinin Hamed Musa Madibo, according to Sudanese media reports.
Following the ceremony, Dagalo met with the attorney general and his assistants, Mustafa Koko Tiya and Ahmed al-Nur al-Halla, to discuss the administration of justice and the expansion of legal services across territories governed by the Peace Government.
Dagalo directed authorities to establish public prosecution offices throughout areas under the transitional administration, stressing that the law should apply to everyone without exception.
The meeting also reviewed a detailed quarterly report on the performance of the attorney general’s office, including legal workshops and institutional development initiatives.
According to the report presented to the Presidential Council, prosecution authorities affirmed their readiness to implement legal procedures and strengthen the administration of justice.
The development forms part of TASIS’s broader effort to establish functioning state institutions in territories outside the control of Sudan’s army-aligned Port Sudan authorities.
Koko Tiya’s appointment was originally announced on June 25, 2026, under Presidential Council Resolution No. 15, which named him first assistant attorney general alongside Ahmed al-Nur al-Halla. Monday’s ceremony therefore marked the formal oath-taking rather than a new appointment.
